What to expect as your sofa settles into your home There’s something special about a brand-new lounge — beautifully made, tailored just for you, and ready to become part of your everyday life. Because each of our lounges is made to order here in Sydney, what you receive is in its freshest form. Like anything handcrafted, it will continue to settle and relax once it arrives in your home — this is a natural and expected part of the journey.

Why your lounge may feel different at first

From the moment your lounge leaves our workshop, it begins a natural transition. To safely transport your piece, lounges are often positioned on their sides. This can temporarily shift the internal fillings and fabrics due to gravity. Once in place, a little light adjustment — smoothing, plumping, and gently repositioning — will help everything settle back into shape. It’s also worth noting that our showroom lounges typically experience higher daily use and are already partially “broken in.” We do our best to display a mix of newer and more settled pieces so you can feel the difference — however, your new lounge at home will naturally feel firmer, fuller, and more structured to begin with.

The settling-in process

Just like a great pair of shoes, your lounge becomes more comfortable and relaxed with time. Over the first few weeks and months of use, you may notice:
  • Cushions softening slightly
  • Seat comfort becoming more relaxed
  • The suspension system settling into its natural position
  • Fabric or leather easing and moulding to your space
This gradual softening is a sign that your lounge is adapting to you, your home, and the way you live.

Understanding your cushions

Most of our back cushions are filled with soft poly fibre, chosen for its comfort and relaxed, inviting look. When new, these cushions can feel quite full or plump — this is intentional. Over time, the fibres will naturally settle and soften, creating a more lived-in feel that gently moulds to your body and enhances overall comfort. We recommend allowing this process to occur naturally in the early stages, rather than adjusting the filling too soon. If needed later on, fibre can be removed to fine-tune comfort. We do suggest keeping any removed fill, as it can be reinserted over time if required as the cushions continue to settle.

A note on leather

If you’ve chosen leather, you may notice it softens and develops gentle “puddling” over time.
Leather is a natural material, and much like a favourite pair of leather shoes or a well-worn jacket, it will give and move with use. This subtle puddling is not a flaw — it’s a hallmark of genuine leather and contributes to its relaxed look, softness, and character.

Simple steps to keep your lounge looking its best

Ongoing care plays an important role in both the appearance and longevity of your lounge. We recommend:
  • Gently plumping and reshaping cushions regularly
  • Rotating cushions where possible to encourage even wear
  • Smoothing out creases in fabric or leather
  • Using and sitting across different areas of the lounge
Regular plumping is especially important for fibre-filled cushions. Without it, fibres can compress and begin to clump together, which can lead to a flat or uneven appearance over time. Once this occurs, it can be difficult to restore the original look without replacing the cushion inserts.
A little consistent care will go a long way in keeping your lounge looking as beautiful as the day it arrived.

Warranty & care

Your lounge is built to last, and a small amount of regular care will help maintain both its comfort and appearance over time.
As outlined in our warranty, ongoing maintenance is required. Flattening or distortion of cushions due to lack of regular plumping and care is considered general wear and is not a manufacturing fault.
